2nd International Cilia Conference in Europe, November 18-21, 2014
The 2nd International Cilia Conference in Europe, Cilia2014, was held at the campus of the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France, from November 18-21, 2014. The meeting followed the successful Cilia2012 conference in London and was organized by 4 European networks: GDR CIL (France), the Ciliopathy Alliance (United Kingdom), the Nordic Cilia & Centrosome Network (Scandinavia) and the EU-FP7 SYSCILIA programme. Philippe Bastin of the Institut Pasteur was the lead organizer of the meeting. More than 400 delegates from 27 countries attended the meeting, including several members of the Nordic Cilia and Centrosome Network. For more information please visit http://www.cilia2014.org. Practical workshop, February 18-21, 2013
A network-sponsored workshop on electron microscopy techniques (for beginners), with emphasis on studies of cilia and centrosomes, was held at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, February 18-21, 2013. The workshop was organized by affiliate network member Stefan Geimer.

The Third Annual Network Meeting, February 1-3, 2013
The third annual meeting (2013) of the Nordic Cilia and Centrosome Network was held at Hotel Kristina in Sigtuna, Sweden, from February 1st-3rd, 2013, and was organized by network members Peter Swoboda and Myriam Peyrard-Janvid. The meeting was attended by a total of 40 network members from several different groups as well as three invited keynote speakers: Professor Denys Wheatley from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, Professor Tim Stearns from Stanford University, USA, and Professor Pierre Gönczy from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. All participating groups gave representative oral presentations, and posters by participating students and postdocs were on display throughout the meeting. Practical workshop, November 19-23, 2012
A network-sponsored workshop/practical course in "Quantitative Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomics" was held in Odense, Denmark, November 19-23, 2012. The workshop was organized by network member Jens Andersen.

The Second Annual Network Meeting, April 23-25, 2012
The second annual meeting of the Nordic Cilia and Centrosome Network was held on the beautiful island of Hankř, just outside Oslo, on April 23-25, 2012. The meeting was organized by network members Sebastian Patzke and Harald Stenmark, and was attended by a total of 44 network members from 11 different groups. The meeting featured talks by all the groups represented, and two keynote presentations by invited speakers Professor Steven Doxsey from UMass Medical Center, Worcester, USA, and Professor Phil Beales from UCL Institute of Child Health, London, UK. In addition, posters by participating students and postdocs were on display throughout the meeting. Prizes for the 2 best posters, sponsored by the journal Cilia, were awarded to network participants Christian Clement and Karen Koefod (S. T. Christensen lab). The quality of the scientific presentations was impressive and the meeting was characterized by stimulating discussions and a relaxed atmosphere. The First Annual Network Meeting, March 25-27, 2011
The meeting featured talks by all the groups represented, and a keynote presentation by invited speaker Monica Bettencourt-Dias from Instituto Gulbenkian de Cienca in Portugal. In addition, posters by participating students were on display throughout the meeting, and a 2 hour attended poster session was included in the program. Prizes for the 3 best posters, sponsored by the journals Cell Biology International and Cilia, were awarded to network participants Kristiina Tammimies (Juha Kere lab), Ditte Hansen (Pedersen/Christensen lab), and Dorte Egeberg (Pedersen/Christensen lab) following dinner Saturday evening. Sunday morning featured a Technical Workshop where selected network participants gave oral presentations describing special techniques, equipment or facilities in their laboratory/institution, which could be useful to other network members.
